Many Americans say financial security is more appealing than a heart-shaped box of chocolates.
When the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education, Arlington, Va., commissioned a consumer survey, it found that almost a quarter of the participants said getting the gift of life insurance for Valentine's Day would make them feel loved.
More than two-thirds of the participants -- including 64% of the men polled and 76% of the women -- said they would give up celebrating Valentine's Day altogether in exchange for greater financial peace of mind.
LIFE commissioned the survey to help promote a new "Insure Your Love" public awareness campaign that will wrap up on Valentine's Day. Campaign organizers are encouraging consumers to express their love by buying life insurance.
