The Supreme Court said it would hand down its decision on PPACA sometime in June. With just two weeks left in the month, the uninsured especially are getting nervous. Traders on the online prediction market Intrade saw a 68% chance the court will strike down the mandate. Some of the biggest insurers in the U.S. have said they will keep some provisions of the law regardless of the Court’s decision, but none have committed to covering pre-existing conditions. If upheld, Mitt Romney said he would repeal the law and replace it with tax breaks to help cover the uninsured if he wins the election in November. In 2010, the number of people without health insurance was more than 16% of the U.S. population, up from 13% in 2000. The percentage of people covered through their employer decreased to 55.3% from 65.1% in 2000.
