Arizona’s immigration law, which requires police to determine the immigration status of people they have stopped whom they suspect might be in the country illegally, made it all the way to the Supreme Court. Of Americans, 58% approve of the law, while 38% disapprove. This is slightly down from 64% who approved of the law when it was passed in 2010. Three in four Hispanics oppose the law, as do 56% of blacks. Whites support the law more than two-to-one (69% to 28%). Republican support has not wavered from 84% since the law was passed, but the law has lost support from Democrats falling from 65% two years ago to 59% today. The Court struck down key parts of the law Monday morning in a 5-3 decision.
