In 2009, 46% of the American public expressed concern over the government’s involvement in health care. Today, it has increased to 59%, according to the Pew Research Center’s 2012 Values Survey. Over four out of five (82%) agree that the government needs to do more to make health care affordable and accessible. Nearly nine out of 10 Republicans (88%) have concerns about the government becoming too involved in health care, compared with 37% of Democrats. This gap is the single largest partisan divide of the 79 items in the survey. On the independent front, 61% agree that they are concerned about the government becoming too involved in health care.
