Think you will spend less when retired? Think again. According to researchers at Bernstein Global Wealth Management, that is flat-out wrong, and for several reasons. Retirees will be shelling out more money in their golden years due to higher health-care costs ($240,000 for a couple retiring today without employer-based health coverage); financial support of children (down payments on their kids’ homes) and grandchildren (tuition); and pricey vacations. Even filling up your idle time with small pleasures costs $57 a month.
