Business seems to be firming up at the state-based public exchanges.

Managers of several have reported strong year-end enrollment activity, and at least one – Nevada’s Silver State Health Insurance Exchange – is starting to report a significant number of paid-up private “qualified health plan” enrollees.

In Nevada, the Nevada Health Link exchange had 10,776 paid QHP enrollees Jan. 5, up from 778 Nov. 30.

About 60 percent of the 17,946 who have completed Nevada’s QHP plan selection process either have enough subsidies to get the coverage for free or have paid a monthly premium.

Paid stand-alone dental plan enrollment has increased to 11,021, from 1,848. In that market, about 48 percent of the 23,188 people who are on track to have dental coverage have paid for the coverage.

Nevada made Dec. 23 its QHP selection deadline for January coverage.

Exchange activity numbers from other states:

Colorado: Connect for Health Colorado had QHP selection information for 52,783 people Dec. 31, up from 42,771 people Dec. 23. At the Small Business Health Options Program, 1,345 employers have started open enrollment and 101 have finalized enrollment.
