Disability Insurance Observer: Speakers

A beloved reader, Monica Soltes, wrote to tell me she's trying to get herself on the public speaking circuit.

She holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.

She was young, she was busy, she was setting up a planning practice, and she forgot to insure her own income.

Then she shattered her elbow, and then she learned that she had severe Cushing's Disease.

She's had some contact with the Council for Disability Awareness, but she's still having a hard time getting the resources she would need, as a person who faces severe challenges, to go out and tell people how to avoid the mistakes she made.

It seems as if it would be great if someone, somewhere -- maybe the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program managers, or maybe disability insurance broker recruiting organizations -- could get some organized, well-spoken, but severely challenged, people like Soltes off of SSDI claims and into paid gigs explaining why people need to protect their incomes and their ability to pay for the resources needed to cope with serious accidents and illnesses, not just life and health insurance.
